Dear Vernon Christian School Community,
Together as a staff team we have chosen the passage above from Psalm 40 as the basis for our theme this year, “A New Song.” It reminds us of our common story: that by God’s grace we have been rescued from a pit of despair that we could not climb out of ourselves, and placed on solid ground – the Rock, His Son, Jesus. He has given us a “new song to sing,” the story of His love and faithfulness to us. This changes everything! – our hearts, our minds, and even the way we educate at VCS. Each of us on staff is excited to share the “song” that God has put in our mouths so that we can provide a transformational education, built on excellent learning in Christ-centred community.
My deep hope is that just like the “many” in the psalm, your children will see what God has done and is still doing; that they will be amazed and will put their trust in the Lord, growing in their relationship with Him.
Preparations are well underway at school as we anticipate the arrival of your children in their new classes. As enrolment is growing so is our staff, programming and campus with it: several new teachers have joined the team; our existing portable has been converted into a beautiful new music room, and new portable teaching space is in process for installation yet this fall to expand teaching space at the Secondary Campus. What an amazing “Song” God has given us to sing! We are so excited to have the continued blessing and privilege of partnering with you in your children’s education.
On Monday, August 27 our full staff community will launch the year with worship and a prayer walk to invite God’s blessing over our whole campus. The parent community is warmly invited, and we hope that many of you will join us at 9:30 am in the Secondary Campus Commons Room.
