Foundations of Faith: Students Leave Their Mark on the New Gym

We know how important it is to mark major events in the life of a community. We frame photos, create slide-shows, make plaques, write poems, or perhaps plant a tree. In the Old Testament, after God miraculously led the Israelites through the Jordan River on dry ground, he instructed them to create a monument using stones gathered from the riverbed.  There are so many ways to create a lasting symbol of God’s goodness!

Today, our students did just that.  In K-12 buddy groups, students wrote their names and future grad years on the concrete sub-floor of the new gym.  They also wrote prayer cards that will be stashed within the walls during construction.  We are literally imprinting our gratitude and our prayers throughout the building – expressions that will last for generations, reminding us of God’s continued faithfulness to VCS.
