Jonathan Boone
SC Vice Principal & Teacher
Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself and my family to you. We are excited to be part of the Vernon Christian School community and look forward to meeting and getting to know you better. Karin and I have been married for almost 27 years and have been blessed with 5 children. Our youngest will be joining the grade 12 class at VCS this year; our oldest just graduated from King’s in Edmonton and the middle three are at various stages of post-secondary training at King’s or UVIC. We also have a dog (Lucy) and a cat (Jasper), but there are days when I am not so sure they are necessarily a blessing. As a family we love hanging out, a good coffee shop, watching movies, exploring, reading, fishing, and talking about philosophy, theology and social justice issues. I’m also fond of a good nap and a good meal, but not usually in that order.
Karin and I both grew up and were married in Langley but have lived and raised our children in Smithers for the past 24 years. I was introduced to K-12 transformational Christian education at Bulkley Valley Christian School where I taught high school for 23 years. As an educator I am passionate about seeing students and staff get excited about God’s world and finding their place in his Story, especially in the area of Indigenous reconciliation. I am looking forward to serving in a community that is committed to Christ-centered, excellent education that equips students for a life of service. My wife, Carolyn and I, as well as our 4 boys, Christian, Jonah, Jeremiah and Jakob, are so excited to be moving up to Vernon from the Lower Mainland. We’ve felt God’s leading for a number of years that we wanted to move to Vernon and He has seen fit to fulfill those dreams. Every step of the way, we can see God’s leading as there are so many doors that He opened and closed to direct our path to where we are now.
We are excited to be a part of the Vernon Christian School family and look forward to meeting you all and establishing new friendships.
Jerune Rodermond
Financial Assistant
I was born in New Westminster, raised in Michigan, Ontario and the Netherlands. We recently celebrated our 25th anniversary, and are blessed with four children, ages 15-23. In 2018 we moved from Langley to Coldstream, and have come to love it here, in part because of the very welcoming East Hill Community Church family. A stay-at-home mom for the past 23 years, I also homeschooled our children and ran my own Administrative Services business for a number of those years. After transitioning our youngest to school this past year, I decided to re-enter the workforce when this VCS job opportunity arose. I look forward to meeting new people, expanding our fledgling community and applying my skills in a God-focused environment.
