VCS Volleyball Pre-play pray

Last week was “Spirit Week” at the SC. Students and staff were encouraged to participate by dressing up in selected spirited attire.  Monday was PJ Day, Tuesday, school colours, Wednesday was ‘Hat Day’, Thursday each grade had a specific colour to dress in and on Friday we all wore a favourite meme.

Sowing by sewing

Wednesday was also our Driven To Serve morning. Students choose from a variety of acts of service in the school and community to demonstrate Christ’s love in practical ways. CEA Kate Stein instructed a handful of students in a sewing project.

Vernon Christian School Worship Arts

Some have chosen to serve in the area of Worship Arts, both visual and musical. Jon Buller from Hear The Music Ministries has been sharing his wisdom and knowledge in worship and music ministry with our 3 Secondary Campus worship teams, preparing them to serve in both EC and SC Chapels. Lisette Smid guided the visual artists in creating the beautiful collaborative tree project that now adorns our Commons Room wall, expressing our Vernon Christian School 2017-18 theme “A Tree Planted”.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
– Jeremiah 17:7-8
