Supervision, Traffic Flow & Parking

Thank you for your ongoing assistance during our busy parking lot times. Please review the following information regarding our parking/pick-up/drop-off procedures: 

SUPERVISION/PLAYGROUND:

MORNING DROP-OFF:

Lane 1: designated lane to the Preschool-Grade 2 and Appointment Parking Spots

Lane 2: drop-off/pick-up ‘staging’ lane and for merging in/out of the drop-off/pick-up lane

Lane 3: drop-off/pick-up ‘staging’ lane

 

 

 

 

AFTERNOON PICK-UP: 

Pick-Up/Drop-Off Lane: For families that have EC & SC Students.

• Parents with EC-only children are to arrive for pick-up at 2:50pm.
• If you have both EC & SC Students, please do not enter the lot until 3:05 for pickup as SC students are not dismissed until 3:05.

**SC-ONLY FAMILIES**: 

Thank you for your patience as work continues on our driveway in front of the new building! It will continue to be used for Pick-Up Only. Please refer to the drawing below and the following key points:

• This is for families with SC-only Students.
• SC Parents are to arrive at 3:10 or later to give EC parents time to pick up their children. Please use ‘Lane 1’ and turn right. Traffic attendants will assist this process.
• As indicated, this is a one-way driveway. Please travel towards the new building and line up in the Pick-Up Lane.
• Students are to cross where indicated and line up along the bank.
• Once students are safely loaded into a vehicle, parents are to exit left using the Through Lane.
• Pick-up Lane must yield and merge into the Through Lane. Pick-up Lane cars must continually move forward, filling open space in front as able.
• Line paint will continue to be ‘freshened up’ over time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

STUDENT PARKING:

We are excited to offer student parking on our property located just north of our construction project! Please refer to the following instructions and diagram below for more info:

• Enter through gravel driveway at 7040 Pleasant Valley Road
• Turn right into new parking lot
• Stay outside of construction fencing while walking to/from campus
• Safely turn left out of Student Parking when leaving campus. Vehicles will be coming and going from this area. School leadership will help facilitate this process during Week 1

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

VCS Crosswalk

Students, parents and caregivers must use the crosswalk only when walking to and from our parking lot to our campuses. Our parking lot is busy and this ensures the safety of all our students and families. This also helps establish safe routines for students when they walk to and from the parking to the campuses by themselves. Please follow the directions of our parking lot attendants.

Pick-up times:       2:50 for K-6.        3:05 for MS/HS.

Staggered pick-up times are to facilitate pick-up and alleviate parking congestion.

• Everyone (students, parents and grandparents) is asked to use the crosswalk only when crossing from the parking lot to the school sidewalk.  Please follow the crossing walk guidance for when to cross safely.
• Kindergarten parents: pick up students at the classroom exterior doors.
• Grades 1 & 2: option to either have children proceed directly to the parking lot or have parents pick them up at the playground.
• Cars in the pick-up lane always pull as far forward as they can before stopping along the curb, and move forward as soon as a gap opens in front of them.
• Students are diligent to watch and wait in a place where they can see that their parent has arrived in the pick-up lane.
• Please have children exit/enter the vehicle on the passenger side whenever possible.
• Never leave your vehicle unattended in any of the lanes.
• Do not stop on crosswalks at any time.
• When exiting the parking lot, please turn right between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
• Cell phones should never be used while driving.
• Traffic attendants will help direct vehicles & pedestrians during drop-off and pick-up.
• Students who are waiting in the upper lot are to remain on the sidewalk and not play on the grass hillside.
