Medical Leave Position – French Teacher:

Vernon Christian School is looking to fill a Medical Leave teaching position in the Secondary Campus, effective immediately.  The assignment is Core French, Gr.7-10 (85% of full-time).

With expanding enrolment and programs, VCS is accepting applications for the following teaching positions for 2019-20.  In applying for any of the following, please also indicate other teachable subjects that you have experience or interest in teaching:


  1. Technology Education Teacher – Secondary focus (Full-time)
    • We have two ADST Shops, fully equipped for wood-work, metal-work, automotive, power-technology, and trades exploration


  1. Core French Teacher – Gr.8-12 Focus (Full-time)


  1. Elementary Teacher (2 full-time positions): flexibility in grade-level focus depending on experience and expertise


  1. Information & Communications Technology / Computer Studies Teacher – Secondary focus (Full-time)


  1. Learning Assistance Teacher – Elementary Focus (Full-time)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Consultation & collaboration with Director of Student Support Services, Admin-team, teachers, educational assistants, and parents
  • Instruction – augmenting and partnering in classroom teaching and support Assessment, testing and reporting
  • Administrative duties (scheduling, student files, etc.)


Preferred experience & training:

  • Minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • University-level courses in the following areas:
    • Teaching students with special needs
    • Assessment/testing theory & practice strategies for teaching, modifying and adapting the curriculum to meet the diverse individual needs of students.
    • Meeting the needs of students with specific exceptionalities (e.g. learning disabilities)
    • meeting the diverse behavioral and emotional needs of students.


  1. Educational Assistant – Full-time (Elementary and Secondary Campus opportunities)


Teaching Position Qualifications:

  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ with active church involvement
  • BC Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for BC certification)
  • Willingness to work in a highly collaborative staff and student learning community
